What are Kine cloths made from?

Kine body cloths are made from high-quality, plastic-free, 100% plant-based fibres and enriched with gentle ingredients such as chamomile extract, jojoba, and vitamin E. They are alcohol, paraben, and sulfate-free, soft on the skin, and hypoallergenic — making them suitable for everyday use. Biodegradable and compostable, they offer a sustainable alternative to conventional wipes without compromising on care or convenience.

Can I flush the wipes?

Only the ones clearly marked as flushable!  Like the body and baby cloths. These Kine cloths are certified flushable under the Australian Standard AS/NZS 5328. For best results, flush two wipes at a time, separately from other toilet products, and only into a properly maintained sewage system. This ensures your plumbing stays safe while you enjoy the convenience of a truly flushable, plant-based wipe designed to break down with ease.  Check the packet - it will be clearly marked with "Do not flush" or flushable to AS/NZS 5328.

Are Kine wipes safe to flush in Australian plumbing?

Yes, Kine body and baby cloths are are certified flushable and meet the AS/NZS 5328 standard for Australian and New Zealand plumbing systems. They are designed to break down naturally in water, helping them pass safely through household plumbing when used as directed. To reduce the risk of blockages, flush a maximum of two wipes at a time.

What makes Kine wipes compostable and biodegradable?

All Kine cloths (flushable and non-flushable) are made from 100% plant-based fibres that naturally break down over time. Unlike conventional wipes containing plastics, plant-based materials can decompose more effectively under the right conditions. Composting Kine wipes can significantly reduce end-of-life environmental impact, cutting emissions by around two-thirds compared to landfill, depending on disposal method and conditions.

Can Kine wipes be used for sensitive skin?

Yes. Kine cloths are formulated to be gentle and hypoallergenic, free from alcohol, parabens, and sulfates. They are suitable for many people who prefer a softer, kinder personal care product. However, everyone’s skin is different, so those with specific sensitivities or skin conditions should consult a healthcare professional before use and discontinue if irritation occurs.

What is the AS/NZS 5328 flushability standard?

AS/NZS 5328 is the Australian and New Zealand standard for flushable products. It sets strict criteria to ensure that products:

  • Break down effectively in water

  • Are compatible with household plumbing and wastewater systems

Products meeting this standard are independently tested to demonstrate they disperse after flushing, unlike conventional wipes that can remain intact.  Any Kine wipes that are flushable are clearly marked on the packet.

What are the benefits of compostable wipes?

Compostable wipes combine convenience with environmental care. Benefits include:

  • Reduced plastic pollution from single-use wipes

  • Lower environmental impact when composted

  • Easy, everyday clean-ups

  • Designed to break down faster than standard wipes

Kine body cloths balance performance, gentleness, and sustainability for family use.

How do I choose eco-friendly wet wipes?

When selecting eco-friendly wipes, look for:

  • Plant-based fibres instead of plastics

  • Clear information on flushability or compostability

  • Gentle, minimal ingredients (alcohol-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free)

  • Transparent sustainability claims

  • Responsible, local manufacturing

Kine cloths meet all these criteria: Australian made and owned, plant-based, and produced locally to reduce carbon emissions.

Flushable wipes vs. standard wipes: what’s the difference?

Standard wipes often contain plastic fibres that don't break down, causing plumbing blockages and environmental pollution. Plant-based wipes avoid plastic — but not all are designed for the toilet.

  • Standard wipes: plastic-based, must go in the bin, don't biodegrade
  • Biodegradable wipes: plant-based fibres that break down naturally — designed for bin disposal, not flushing (can go in green bin)
  • Flushable wipes: biodegradable and certified to AS/NZS 5328, meaning they disperse safely through plumbing and sewer systems

Not all "biodegradable" or "flushable" claims are equal. For toilet use, AS/NZS 5328 certification is what protects your plumbing and the environment. For everywhere else, plant-based fibres are what matter.
